Spatiotemporal refraction of light in an epsilon-near-zero indium tin oxide layer: frequency shifting effects arising from interfaces

نویسندگان

چکیده

When light travels through a medium in which the refractive index is rapidly changing with time, will undergo shift its frequency. Large frequency shifting effects have recently been reported for transparent conductive oxides. These observations interpreted as emerging from temporal changes to propagation phase bulk resulting variations index, an effect referred refraction. Here, we show that epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) layer made of indium tin oxide (ITO) originates not only this response, but includes significant spatial boundary conditions. This can lead dominant opposing certain angles. Hence, process gives rise be tailored angle incidence, decoupling amplitude and modulation.

Polarization-Insensitive Surface Plasmon Polarization Electro-Absorption Modulator Based on Epsilon-Near-Zero Indium Tin Oxide

CMOS-compatible plasmonic modulators operating at the telecom wavelength are significant for a variety of on-chip applications. Relying on the manipulation of the transverse magnetic (TM) mode excited on the metal-dielectric interface, most of the previous demonstrations are designed to response only for specific polarization state. In this case, it will lead to a high polarization dependent lo...

Functionalization of indium tin oxide.

The preparation and functionalization of ITO surfaces has been studied using primarily X-ray photoemission spectroscopy and infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) and the reagents n-hexylamine and n-octyltrimethoxysilane (OTMS). Particular attention has been paid to characterization of the surfaces both before and after functionalization. Surfaces cleaned by ultraviolet (UV)/ozone ...

GaN-based light-emitting diodes with graphene/indium tin oxide transparent layer.

We have demonstrated a gallium nitride (GaN)-based green light-emitting diode (LED) with graphene/indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent contact. The ohmic characteristic of the p-GaN and graphene/ITO contact could be preformed by annealing at 500 °C for 5 min. The specific contact resistance of p-GaN/graphene/ITO (3.72E-3 Ω·cm²) is one order less than that of p-GaN/ITO. In addition, the 20-mA forw...

Manipulating polarization of light with ultrathin epsilon-near-zero metamaterials.

One of the basic functionalities of photonic devices is the ability to manipulate the polarization state of light. Polarization components are usually implemented using the retardation effect in natural birefringent crystals and, thus, have a bulky design. Here, we have demonstrated the polarization manipulation of light by employing a thin subwavelength slab of metamaterial with an extremely a...

Indium Tin Oxide@Carbon Core–Shell Nanowire and Jagged Indium Tin Oxide Nanowire

This paper reports two new indium tin oxide (ITO)-based nanostructures, namely ITO@carbon core-shell nanowire and jagged ITO nanowire. The ITO@carbon core-shell nanowires (~50 nm in diameter, 1-5 μm in length,) were prepared by a chemical vapor deposition process from commercial ITO nanoparticles. A carbon overlayer (~5-10 in thickness) was observed around ITO nanowire core, which was in situ f...
